Tear trough filler in Madrid, Spain

Hyaluronic acid treatment. A precise assessment to soften hollowing without adding volume where it is not needed.

Suitability matters more than the filler

What can hyaluronic acid improve under the eyes?

It can soften a hollow groove and the shadow that this uneven contour creates between the lower eyelid and the cheek.

It does not address every type of under-eye concern. When eye bags, pigmentation, visible blood vessels, laxity, or a tendency to swell are the main problem, adding volume may not help and can even worsen the appearance. This is why the consultation starts by identifying the cause.

We aim for a smoother, more rested-looking transition, not to fill away every natural contour of the eyelid.

Not all under-eye concerns need the same treatment

Hollowing, bags, color, or swelling: four different concerns

The term “dark circles” can describe different changes. Distinguishing them helps avoid recommending filler when another treatment may be more appropriate.

01

A hollow groove

An uneven contour creates a shadow beneath the eye. Carefully selected hyaluronic acid filler may be most helpful in this situation.

02

Lower eyelid bags

These are a bulge, not a lack of volume. When eye bags are the main concern, surgery is often the effective option.

03

Dark coloration

Pigmentation or visible blood vessels may remain even after the groove is softened. Filler alone does not change the color of the skin.

04

Swelling or malar bags

A tendency to retain fluid calls for particular caution. In some patients, it is a reason not to inject filler in this area.

An overview of the appointment

A brief treatment, a precise decision

The injections take about 15 minutes. Assessment, photographs, treatment planning, and time for the numbing cream to work come beforehand.

An under-eye treatment is not planned by milliliters

Sometimes the best approach is very little filler. Or none.

We assess the relationship between the eyelid, cheekbone, and cheek before recommending an option.

Conservative volumes

How much hyaluronic acid is used under the eyes?

In our practice, around 0.5 cc shared between both sides is usually more than enough; sometimes we use even less. The amount does not have to be identical on the right and left.

The skin here is thin, and excess filler can become visible or retain water. We prefer a cautious correction and reassessment of how it settles before adding more. A small adjustment is sometimes made at the follow-up appointment.

The material is selected according to your anatomy, tissue, and goals. No single formulation suits everyone, and there is no standard amount that must be used up.

Precision

We treat the uneven contour causing the shadow, not the entire surface of the eyelid.

Realistic symmetry

Each side is assessed separately and may need a different amount.

Follow-up

We wait for swelling to settle before deciding whether an adjustment is appropriate.

How treatment is performed at the clinic

Tear trough filler technique

We generally use a cannula, although the entry point and placement depth are adapted to your anatomy. The technique is not decided from a photograph alone.

01

Assessing the under-eye area

We assess hollowing, bags, skin quality, cheekbone support, swelling, asymmetry, and previous treatments.

02

Planning and numbing cream

We mark the area to be corrected and allow the topical anesthetic to take effect for greater comfort.

03

Gradual placement

We place small amounts at the selected depth, usually with a cannula, checking the change progressively.

04

Follow-up

The included review after one or two weeks allows us to assess how the filler has settled and whether a small adjustment is needed.

How it settles, not an immediate photograph

When will I see the result, and how long does it last?

The change in volume is visible at the appointment, but a more reliable assessment is made after the initial swelling subsides.

Swelling, tenderness, or a small bruise may occur in the first few days. This is why we do not decide on a touch-up immediately after treatment.

As a general guide, the effect often lasts around 8–12 months, with variation according to anatomy, material, amount, and individual response. It does not disappear suddenly on a particular date.

When treatment may be appropriate

Who may be a suitable candidate for tear trough filler?

It may be an option for adults with a hollow groove that creates shadow, a pronounced eyelid-to-cheek transition, and skin and fluid drainage compatible with treatment.

Assessment is particularly important if you have eye bags, swelling, very thin skin, a history of persistent inflammation, or previous filler. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, an active infection, and certain medical conditions can also mean postponing or avoiding treatment.

If you do not know which product was used or when it was injected, try to obtain the treatment record. We do not assume that previous filler has dissolved simply because time has passed.

Examination distinguishes hollowing from an eye bag or a color-related concern.

The eyelid and cheek work together

When might cheekbone treatment also help?

When support in the cheekbone area is reduced, treating only the groove can mean placing too much product close to the eye. In some cases, we recommend supporting the cheekbone first or at the same time to improve the transition with less filler beneath the eye.

This combination is not automatic and is quoted separately. Treatment may be performed in one appointment or in stages, depending on your anatomy and priorities.

The first 24–48 hours

Aftercare following tear trough filler

Most people return to gentle everyday activities. Allow time before an important event, as swelling or bruising may be visible for a few days.

No pressure or massage

Do not press or massage the area unless the team specifically advises you to do so.

Activity and heat

Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, very hot baths, and significant heat exposure for the first 24–48 hours.

Gentle cleansing

Cleanse gently. If we recommend a cool compress, apply it without pressure and follow our instructions.

Scheduled follow-up

Do not try to manipulate an early irregularity yourself. We assess how it settles at the included review.

An area that requires experience

Risks, warning signs, and previous fillers

Temporary swelling, tenderness, redness, or bruising are the most common effects. Irregularities, a bluish color, persistent swelling, infection, nodules, or delayed inflammatory reactions can also occur.

Uncommonly, an injection can block a blood vessel and damage the skin; in rare cases, vision can be affected. Knowledge of anatomy, careful patient selection, and the ability to recognize and manage a complication are essential.

If previous filler has settled poorly or too much is present, it may be necessary to use hyaluronidase, reassess the tissue, and start again. We do not give a universal interval between these steps: timing depends on the clinical response.

A clear quote after assessment

Tear trough filler prices in Madrid

A typical under-eye treatment at our clinic averages around 400 EUR.

This is an indicative price. Your final quote depends on your anatomy, any previous filler, and the agreed treatment plan. If cheekbone treatment is appropriate, it is quoted separately.

The review after one or two weeks is included. Any adjustment depends on how the filler settles; it is not promised or performed simply to use a predetermined amount.

Answers to help you make an informed decision

Frequently asked questions about tear trough filler

Does hyaluronic acid help every type of dark circle?

No. It may help when a hollow groove creates shadow. Pigmentation, bags, laxity, or swelling may need other treatments, and filler is not appropriate for everyone.

    Does filler remove eye bags?

It does not remove a lower eyelid bag. When bags are the main problem, blepharoplasty is often the solution; filler alone may not correct them and can make the area look heavier.

How much hyaluronic acid is used?

In our practice, around 0.5 cc shared between both sides is usually more than enough, and sometimes we use less. The amount is adapted to each side and your anatomy.

Is treatment performed with a needle or cannula?

We generally use a cannula, although the entry point, depth, and technique are individualized after examining the area.

    Does tear trough filler hurt?

We apply numbing cream before the procedure. You may feel pressure or brief discomfort, but treatment is usually well tolerated.

How long does the appointment take?

The injections take about 15 minutes. Assessment, photographs, planning, and time for the numbing cream to work require additional time.

When will I see the result?

The change is visible at the appointment, but is better assessed after one or two weeks, once the initial swelling subsides. The follow-up is included.

How long does the effect last?

As a general guide, around 8–12 months, although this varies with anatomy, material, amount, and individual response. The effect decreases gradually.

Can it be combined with cheekbone filler?

Yes. When cheek support is reduced, treating the cheekbone may help improve the transition to the eyelid. This is recommended individually and quoted separately.

What if I already have under-eye filler?

We need to know which material was used, when, and how it has settled. If it has settled poorly or too much is present, hyaluronidase may be needed before reassessing the tissue and starting again.

    What aftercare should I follow?

For the first 24–48 hours, avoid pressing or massaging the area unless advised, strenuous exercise, and significant heat exposure. Cleanse gently and follow the team’s personalized instructions.

How much does tear trough filler cost?

A typical treatment averages around 400 EUR. This is an indicative price; your quote depends on your case, and cheekbone treatment, if recommended, is quoted separately.
