Mommy Makeover in Madrid, Spain
A personalized plan. It is not a fixed operation or an automatic combination of procedures. We assess what would benefit from treatment, what can be done in one operation, and when a two-stage plan is the more prudent choice.

A direct answer
What is a Mommy Makeover?
It is an individualized surgical plan to address changes in the abdomen and breasts after pregnancy and breastfeeding, in one stage—or two if safety favors a staged approach.
The combination we perform most often is lipoabdominoplasty with diastasis repair combined with a breast lift with implants. However, not every patient needs liposuction, a breast lift, or implants.
The operation is planned around your anatomy, skin quality, abdominal muscle separation, breast volume and sagging, BMI, medical history, and, above all, your own priorities.
There is no single Mommy Makeover
What it can include—and why each combination is different
The aim is not to operate on “everything,” but to select procedures that provide a proportionate improvement without exceeding a reasonable surgical burden, duration, or recovery.
Abdomen and waist
Lipoabdominoplasty removes excess skin, treats localized fat, and allows diastasis repair. Slim patients with loose skin or muscle separation may not need extensive liposuction.
Sagging breasts or loss of fullness
Our usual approach is a submuscular, inverted-T breast lift using the PEF technique, with or without implants. If there is no clear sagging, augmentation alone may be enough; if there is excess volume, reduction may be considered.
Preservé mastopexy in selected cases
A Preservé breast lift may be considered for breasts that are not very heavy, have limited sagging, and where a modest volume increase is desired. It does not replace a conventional breast lift when sagging is substantial.
Additional liposuction
It can refine the flanks, waist, abdomen, or other areas that contribute to the result. Its extent affects operating time, the hospital stay, and whether treatment is better divided into stages.
A clinical decision, not a package
One operation or two stages?
When the plan fits comfortably within an appropriate operating time
- Good general health and an acceptable anesthetic risk.
- BMI and fat distribution compatible with a reasonable extent of liposuction.
- Abdominal and breast surgery that can be completed in approximately five hours or less.
- No need to add a third body procedure.
When separating procedures reduces complexity and supports recovery
- Extensive liposuction or particularly complex anatomy.
- A high BMI, medical conditions, or a history that increases risk.
- Breast or abdominal reconstruction that requires more time on its own.
- An overall plan likely to exceed our operating-time limit.
Doing everything at once is not always an advantage. In our practice, the best combination is one that allows a complete result without compromising safety.

Timing and suitability
When a Mommy Makeover may make sense
A typical candidate has completed pregnancy and breastfeeding, maintains a stable weight, and wants to address changes that do not respond well to diet, exercise, or time: excess abdominal skin, diastasis, localized fat, and breasts that have lost fullness, sag, or feel out of proportion.
We recommend waiting at least six months after childbirth and, if you breastfed, six months after breastfeeding ends. This allows the breasts, weight, and tissues to stabilize, making planning more reliable.
Safety comes first
General anesthesia, hospital care, and limits agreed before surgery
The usual combination is performed under general anesthesia and takes around five hours. Patients normally stay for two nights at Hospital Universitario HLA Moncloa.
HLA Moncloa has 14 operating rooms for major surgery, a postoperative recovery unit, and 13 intensive care beds. Its intensive care department is accredited for specialist training through Spain’s MIR pathway.

Internal retrospective records
More than 1,000 combined procedures to date
In our clinical experience, we have recorded one severe infection, resolved with a satisfactory outcome; zero pulmonary embolisms and zero transfusions. Hematomas requiring surgical revision have occurred in fewer than 1 % of cases.
Realistic recovery
Abdominoplasty is the main factor in recovery
Breast surgery does not usually add substantial functional restrictions to the abdominal recovery protocol. Recovery varies, particularly with extensive liposuction or a complex breast lift.
- First 6–8 h
Early mobilization
We aim to help you stand and walk with assistance if your clinical condition permits. Individualized blood-clot prevention continues.
- 2 nights
Usual hospital stay
Monitoring pain, oral intake, mobility, wounds, and an abdominal drain when needed.
- 7–12 days
A slightly bent posture
Walking slightly bent forward is common while abdominal tension decreases. Showering is usually permitted around the fourth day, depending on the wounds.
- ≈15 days
Driving and office work
Many patients can return around two weeks after surgery; more complex procedures may require 30 days or longer.
- 30–45 days
Gradual return to exercise
Start gently—for example, on a stationary bike—and delay strenuous abdominal exercises until you receive clearance.

An abdominoplasty primarily to remove excess skin, without extensive liposuction, combined with breast augmentation without a lift.
Approximately €15,000–17,000
Moderate lipoabdominoplasty with diastasis repair and breast surgery of intermediate complexity.
Up to approximately €19,900
Extensive lipoabdominoplasty and a breast lift with implants, always within our safety limits.

Meet Dr. Jorge Aso
Dr. Jorge Aso is a specialist in plastic, aesthetic, and reconstructive surgery through Spain’s MIR pathway and holds a doctorate in medicine, cum laude , from the Complutense University of Madrid. His practice combines advanced breast surgery, lipoabdominoplasty, diastasis repair, and planning of combined procedures.
He performs more than 50 Mommy Makeovers per year and has experience of more than 1,000 combined procedures. His approach is not to add techniques, but to decide which combination offers balanced improvement within a reasonable operating time.
“I would rather divide surgery into two stages than exceed the limit I consider appropriate. The result matters, but safety always comes first.”

Frequently asked questions
Common questions about Mommy Makeover
Which procedures does a Mommy Makeover include?
There are no fixed components. The most common combination in our practice is lipoabdominoplasty with diastasis repair and a breast lift with or without implants. In other cases, a skin-focused abdominoplasty and augmentation may be enough, or two stages may be preferable.
How much does a Mommy Makeover cost in Madrid?
As a guide, simpler combinations may start around €12,000, intermediate plans often range from €15,000 to €17,000, and complex plans may reach around €19,900. These are not packages: the price depends on the techniques and hospital stay required.
Is everything done in one operation?
Only when the complete plan can be performed within an appropriate safety margin. Our approximate limit is five hours, and we do not add a third body procedure. For very extensive liposuction or breast correction, we prefer two stages.
How long does surgery take, and which anesthesia is used?
The usual combination takes around five hours, depending on the liposuction and breast surgery involved. It is performed under general anesthesia at Hospital Universitario HLA Moncloa.
How many nights do I stay in the hospital?
Usually two nights. Discharge is individualized according to mobility, pain, oral intake, wounds, abdominal drainage, and overall recovery.
When can I return to work and driving?
In a standard case, around 15 days. More extensive treatment may require 30 days or longer. Recovery is mainly governed by the abdominoplasty.
How long should I wait after childbirth and breastfeeding?
We recommend waiting at least six months after childbirth and, if you breastfed, six months after breastfeeding ends. The aim is to operate once the breasts, weight, and tissues have stabilized.
Can I have surgery with a BMI above 30?
We ideally prefer a BMI below 30, but BMI alone is not an absolute contraindication. Fat distribution, associated medical conditions, blood-clot risk, and expected operating time are assessed individually; sometimes we recommend weight loss or a staged plan.
What happens if I become pregnant again?
Having had surgery does not usually make a later pregnancy a medical problem, but another pregnancy can stretch the abdominal wall, skin, and breasts again and affect the result. We therefore recommend surgery when no further pregnancies are planned.
Can it be combined with Preservé mastopexy?
Yes, in selected cases: breasts that are not very heavy, limited sagging, and a desire for a modest volume increase. For significant ptosis or a larger correction, the usual approach is a conventional submuscular breast lift, generally with an inverted-T pattern and the PEF technique.
What scars does it leave?
They depend on the techniques: abdominoplasty leaves a low abdominal scar and another around the belly button; a breast lift may add a vertical scar and often a short inverted T. They are planned to be as discreet as possible, but they are permanent and mature over several months.
Is the operation safe?
It is major surgery, and zero risk does not exist. Patient selection, control of operating time, blood-clot prevention, early mobilization, and the hospital setting are essential. We have recorded no pulmonary embolisms or transfusions in our accumulated series; these internal figures do not guarantee an individual outcome.
